78. The Commissioner has received a number of communications from different persons in Georgia who claim that they have been prosecuted due to their (or their relatives') political beliefs and participation and lawyers provided the Commissioner with lists of persons allegedly sentenced on political grounds, most of them participants in the opposition protests which took place in November 2007 and in the spring of 2009. ..."

Today in Zugdidy, the capital of Samegrelo-Zemo Svanety Territory, the United Georgia Party met with its supporters numbering about 100 who were formally admitted to the Party. The leaders gave their new members special United Georgia certificates.

The United Georgia is about to intensify its activities in Samegrelo Region. The Party intends to hold regular meetings with the region population to find out the problems and identify the required assistance. “Today, we have discussed the book Letters from Jail by Vladimir Vakhania and set up a youth wing of the political movement,” says Djemal Shelia.
